This process starts with original concept pencil sketches for each character. They are drawn in the rough, then digitally drawn; we then use black and grey and the central theme—colours in red.
As we go through each character in the book, the images change as they evolve through each chapter; you will notice subtle changes as we develop them.
The final images of each character come to life when drawn and painted in watercolour.
Each character can be made from paper using Origami; hence, the lines and colour definitions in the pencil and digital drawings help represent those fold lines. This process is vital for understanding each character, helping unlock their reality, and understanding how they suddenly appear in London in 2025.
